How to Fix an Automatic Transmission That Won't Shift – Replace Pressure Solenoid, Fluid and Filter



In this video I will be working on a Dodge Ram 1500 that has an Automatic transmission that won’t shift past 1st gear, it has a check engine light and the code is P1756 (Governor Pressure Not Equal to Target at 15-20 PSI). I will show you how you can replace this solenoid and also how you can service your automatic transmission as well.

Please help my dog got under my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 and chewed up some wires I think it is the shift sensor because I lost every gear but 3rd I took off the connector and there is a green wire and a blue wire but on the other side that has been chewed there is just about every colored wire does anyone know how to even begin to see which wire's go together I'm trying to splice it back together

  2. Hey there, have a 94 Silverado w/ the 4L60E trans. Put in a Sonnax pinless 1-2 shift accumulator piston because the old one was broken. Also had a broken spring in there. But there is still a problem. Will not shift into 2nd gear unless I release the gas pedal. Then it will shift and I can get back on the gas pedal. But if I give it too much gas it will shift back into 1st gear. Pretty much the same problem that was there after the old piston and spring broke. One thing though; it will shift (although very sluggishly) into 2nd while the engine is still cold. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

  3. Hey Friend, I have a 02' Dakota 3.9l 4×4 truck that it is giving me a P0748 Pressure Control Solenoid A Electrical code….Changed these parts and no change. any ideas? thx

  5. Hey hope your great ! I have a 1998 sentra, I shift into reverse it works perfectly, but when I shift into any of the drives it won't go, but at times it does catches drive, and then it's perfect till I turn the car off. When I turn it back on it does the same again some time I just put it into drive and accelerate really soft and it catches drive and then it runs perfect again, thanks for your help!

Soul-enoid is exactly what it is if that's what you want it to be called buddy I'm a mechanic myself and you I know actually do a well job and understand the engineering and technicalities of an engine or basic vehicle knowkedge you got a descent soul inside so keep up the good work over there

  7. Ok so I did all this and it didn't fix it at all. Will only shift from first to second if you let your foot off the gas pedal and let the rpms drop. Any advice?

  8. Would you recommend doing this on 2000 dodge ram 1500 with 200k on the transmission? I have this problem on mine and I know it's the sensor but I am scared to do it for the transmission to end up becoming worse with how high the mileage is

  10. I dropped the pan. Removed the shift solenoid but it got really cold and i work the next day. Is it ok to leave the pan off the transmission for a week or will it get corroded? Its in my driveway and obviously wont be moved untill my next day off

I have a Toyota transmission in a 92 Toyota 22r engine it's an automatic and when I put it in gear it will go in till I let off the gas when I let off the gas it kicks like in to neutral I can shut the truck off for about a minute to restart it and it will work again until I let off the gas when I let off the gas it keeps out again what is wrong with it I was thinking the torque converter is that what is wrong

  12. I have a 95 Dodge ram 1500 4×4 5.9 and it is obd1 and I know I can flash the codes by turning the key on and off three times.. but what scanner can I use to clear my obd1 codes ????
